About the Artist & Events

Sharon Attaway is a professional artist living in Hanover, Maryland. Her mission is to bring joy to people as they collect her colorful resin abstracts to decorate their homes or office spaces.  Her more recent artworks use a process consisting of pouring resin mixed with colored tint, resulting in a layered painting with a glossy finish. However, Sharon also adds acrylics and other materials for a multi-media approach to add an element of texture or the appearance of texture. When painting with a brush, an artist has total control over the end product. Pouring resin is a cooperative approach between the resin and the artist. The resin wants to do its own thing as if it is alive, but the artist gains control as she manipulates the resin. The end product is a colorful collaboration between the artist and the resin that brings joy to the art collector.

Sharon started drawing at an early age. She continued drawing pencil portraits and still life scenes as a hobby. It was not until she retired from Baltimore County Public Schools that she decided to take painting classes to introduce color into her work. She attended classes at Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), Schuler School of Fine Art, and Zoll Studio School of Fine Art. After creating more traditional artwork, Sharon discovered resin art and has worked in this medium ever since using a multimedia approach.
